Regional Conference on Bioenergy – Access to Affordable and Sustainable Energy was held in Belgrade on November 18th 2016.

The Regional Conference was foreseen as continuation of the efforts made by the Serbian Government to enable more regional and international dialogue on bioenergy policies and to motivate and empower national and regional leaders to introduce necessary changes within the national policies aimed at promoting energy transition and limiting the usage of fossil fuels for electricity production and heating in the SEE region.

This event provided an overview of the Agenda 2030 and the operationalization of the Sustainable Development Goals’s in SEE region. It enabled the regional political leaders, policy makers and experts to exchange their views on how to enable access to affordable, sustainable and modern energy through better utilization of bioenergy. Besides, the technical debate on innovative solutions for bioenergy initiated and implemented throughout the SEE region was embraced.

The Regional Conference was organized with support of the German-Serbian Development Cooperation Programme “Development of a Sustainable Bioenergy Market in Serbia”, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit / GIZ.
